Francesco Maria Veracini is best known today as an eccentric violin virtuoso and instrumental music composer but was also an important opera composer during his stay in London. His first opera, “Adriano in Siria”, was composed by Veracini in 1735 for the London Opera of Nobility, a rival company of Handel’s.
This recording of Europa Galante, together with an illustrious vocal cast, was made on the occasion of a – very successful – concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus in 2014.
