“What this fresh account of the oratorio under Fabio Biondi demonstrates is the liveliness of Scarlatti’s inspiration.Brief recitatives punctuate dozens of tiny arias and duets, almost all brisk. Outstanding in a first-rate team of soloists is the ravishing Véronique Gens as Divine Love.”

“A powerhouse group of singers are on hand here (…) The biggest triumph, though, belongs to ensemble Europa Galante. Scarlatti scored the work modestly for strings but what a string writing!”

“Like-wise joyously inspired is the performance under the dedicated direction of Fabio Biondi, a Scarlatti interpreter of experience and flair …Leading from the violin, he summons orchestral playing of vibrancy and energy and is blessed with a top-class baroque singers. It’s hard to imagine this work being better performed or presented”

EDITOR’S NOTES
“La Santissima Trinità is one of the last oratories composed by Alessandro Scarlatti, performed for the first time in Naples on 1715. The subject is unusual: a theological dispute between Faith, Divine Love, Time and Theology, about the impenetrable mystery for the Holy Trinity. This composition, despite the austerity of the subject, is a music surprisingly rich, offering an abundance of colors and shades.”
Voices:
Roberta Invernizzi – Fede
Véronique Gens – Amor divino
